Ratskeller in Otterndorf

Very good food, it is a must for us when we are in Otterndorf to eat here. The premises, in a cellar-like vault, are very rustic. The cook (probably also the boss) always likes to appear in between and asks about satisfaction. All in all very recommendable.

I tried to reserve a table 20 times, I could never reach anyone on the phone. At some point it worked. We were pleasantly surprised. The crab soup alone - a poem - the food was worth full marks. I can only highly recommend the restaurant. Will definitely come back next year. 👍👍👍

We were in the Ratskeller Otterndorf because we liked the reviews and the pictures, as well as the online menu and Ratskeller are actually always top addresses in the respective places. The reception was nice, disinfection was ready, we were brought to the table and the waitress asked for the drinks. On request we ordered Aperol Spritz, which later turned out to be Rosé Prosecco. In addition, according to the menu, they offered bitter sparkling water, when the food was already coming and the drink was not yet, we were only informed when asked that they didn't have it. The menu was reduced, they did not have any of the dishes we had previously selected online. No duck, no casseroles. I then chose asparagus with boiled potatoes, pork schnitzel and butter and asked if I could get croquettes instead of potatoes and butter sauce instead. Sauce Hollandaise was not on offer at all, but Sauce Béarnaise, which, however, for whatever reason, could not be served, but only baked. The other three ordered rump steak, two medium and one medium well with fried potatoes. The food came. I didn't get Béarnaise sauce baked, but the butter, which I claimed directly, so my plate went with me again. I dismissed the lack of croquettes with the fact that you can't wear everything at once. When my plate came back with a dab of baked sauce but no croquettes I addressed that too. The waitress was a little ashamed because she hadn't taken the order. After a few minutes came croquettes, which obviously only heated up quickly, they were pale and not really cooked. The schnitzel tasted great! The other three dishes had a side salad that was parked on a small serving table next to other guests. Now it comes, the steak that Medium Well was ordered was actually simply halved in the horizontal, so that you had something like carpaccio in the shape and taste of the soles of your shoes on your plate. An absolute no-go for a price of 22 €! If you want to have your steak a little more, don't cut it lengthways! The other two were also rare rather than medium. In addition, the homemade chilli sauce was spread directly on the steak, which is not for everyone. The fried potatoes were served in a terrine that you had to share. For dessert. We found it good that the portions were small and large. We ordered the chocolate parfait in small, which was fine, except for the old chocolate grater used for the decoration, which had turned gray, and apple rings in beer batter large, which we could not consider a large portion, because there were two and a half slices of apple. On the whole, the taste was okay, apart from the steak, croquettes and the missing sauce. The worst thing was that we had to pay a surcharge for the change request, which only worked with three attempts! Naughty! We would neither recommend it nor go there again.

Food is of excellent quality! Everything absolutely fresh! The service also leaves nothing to be desired! Recommended without restrictions!

This constant refilling of drinks, then also reaching over the plates of the guests to serve the people sitting next to them, is extremely annoying. This is supposed to do justice to the demands of the "upscale" gastronomy, but there is more to it than Vilsa mineral water in plastic bottles ... The food was average, nothing more, nothing less.
